Editing practical
07/02/2022Today we learnt how to edit videos on Premier Pro. We figured out what the abreviations meant for example V1 is video 1 and A1 is audio 1. We opened the rushes bin which is the raw, unedited footage. The folders are called bins because of how films were edited in the past. We then went through the footage and logged some of the footage, this is where you copy the shots into a 'log bin'.
Once the image is on the screen we used the blue scrubber to move through the footage and clicke 'I' to isolate the material we wanted to keep and dragged it to the timeline below. The timeline strips were too small at first so we learnt to click the + and - button to zoom in and out. It is far easier to edit when you zoom in because you can be more accurate. To cut the fottage up you click 'C' to change the cursor to the cutting tool and 'V' to go back to the selector cursor.
After learning all the technicalities we had a go at editing a scene together. Mat gave us the top tip to cut the footage right on the action before cutting to a different angle to create a smoother effect. In the end I was really happy with our test outcome and I feel confident that when our group comes to editing our final production we will have the skills we need.
